Created for the launch of a Talisker whisky collaboration with ocean charity Parley, this limited-edition project connects brand, environment, and craft. A prototype copper canvas (one of six) forms part of a larger silhouette of the Isle of Skye, home of the distillery. The copper, treated with natural patina, echoes the sea-weathered surfaces and whisky-making process. Alongside this, wider-release bottle mock-ups feature removable, uniquely patinated copper tokens shaped like Skye, making each bottle a distinct collector’s piece. These canvases are sculptural artefacts designed to accompany the launch, with each auctioned to support Parley’s work. The project also expands digitally through Houdini simulations of copper textures and patina growth, blending slow craft with generative design.

A short film documents the making of the Talisker x Parley collector’s item, capturing the raw tactility of materials, the slow rhythm of fabrication, and the elemental forces that shape both object and origin. Copper sheets. Flame. Patina. Time. More than a behind-the-scenes, the film reflects the philosophy of the piece itself: that craft is not just process, but an exchange between maker and material. It mirrors the whisky it was made to accompany, shaped by age, environment, and care.

Each bottle mock-up was designed with a removable copper token, a miniature silhouette of Skye. Each token carries its own patina, shaped by chemical process and chance. No two are alike. These small, oxidised forms act as both keepsake and reminder: of place, of process, of Talisker’s elemental identity. They turn each bottle into more than a vessel, an artefact, echoing the sea-worn surfaces and crafted materials of the larger canvas piece.
